The Netcenter's
How to promote your Web Pages
It's not enought to design a nice Web Page on the Internet to get readers. You have to tell the Internet Crowd. And you have to let them know where you are. There are several ways to promote your web page address. Here are the best ones.
- Get listed with all the Search Engines, such as Yahoo, Alta Vista, The Netcenter, etc. There are hundreds of these search engines, but only the top 30 or 40 will have the user base to do you any good or to be found in any great numbers. You don't need to spend too much time because there are now listing pages that will list you with the top 30 search engines in one visit. To do this, visit the Netcenter's Submit-All Page. This will place your Web Page address in the top 30 - 35 of the best, most-often used Search Engines. It only takes a few minutes to go be submitted to them all.
- You will also want to be listed in the INTERNET TABLE OF CONTENTS. This is the most ambitious listing project on the Web. It will soon have a reference to every web page on the Internet, and listed by a familiar model, the Table of Contents. You will definitely want your web site listed there.
- Create a bookmark in your browser, so that you will remember to come back to these pages whenever you add a page or change your web site and get listed as many times as you can. The more pages you have listed in the Search Engines, the greater the chances of your web site being found. This is the key to Internet Promotion. You need to keep publishing more and more pages, just like a magazine or newspaper publisher continues to publish pages every week or every month. You want to design your web page to attract people to it and to get them to come back.
- Another great way to get people to come back to your Web Site is to post the iHelp Files that you are now reading. Remember, there are hundreds of thousands of new users coming into the Internet for the first time each month. They need to learn what you have just learned. By placing the iHelp Files on your Web Page, you encourage them to come to you to learn the ropes. They will be grateful for this information and will tell others about your web page. This brings you more visitors every month that you might not have had. Look around the Internet for other opportunities to share and co-operate with other webmasters. The Netcenter is one such place on the web that co-operates hand-in-hand with new webmasters such as yourself. Visit us often.
- You can pay listing agencies to promote your web pages, and you can advertise them in your current printed materials, if you have any. You can also emulate the major brands who now show their Web Page Address during TV Commercials, and/or radio and in their brochures. There are literally thousands of things you can do to let the world know how to reach you on the Web.
